Jas Kayser

We have a special guest joining us in the 8 o’clock hour today, great to welcome back to the studio Jas Kayser. Drummer, songwriter and band leader, notable graduate of Berklee College of Music. Recognized by Paiste Cymbals and Yamaha Drums, she has won awards such as Jazz FM Breakthrough Act 2021 and Parliamentary Jazz Newcomer 2021, in addition to being nominated for the MOBO Awards Best Jazz Artist 2022. She has played with her mentors Terri Lyne Carrington, Danilo Pérez and Ralph Peterson, as well as with London artists such as Shabaka Hutchings, Alfa Mist and Nubya García. his talent has taken her to international stages in Panama, Boston and London, where she now resides. It was part of Lenny Kravitz’s Low video, with whom he continues to tour, Jas continues to forge a unique style in the modern jazz scene.


Ingrid comes up with an interesting selection of Freaky Fun Facts for this morning program, Yazmin takes a look at What is happening Where and When. plus we have a couple of people born on this day in the world of music. 1939 – Scott McKenzie. 1967 UK No.1 & US No.4 single ‘San Francisco, Be Sure To Wear Some Flowers In Your Hair’. McKenzie also auditioned for The Monkees. McKenzie died on August 18, 2012 aged 73.
