English musician, singer and songwriter who had the 1983 UK No.1 single ‘Wherever I Lay My Hat’ and the 1985 US No.1 single ‘Everytime You Go Away’. He was also a member of The Streetband, (1978 UK No.18 single ‘Toast’, and lead singer with soul covers band Q-Tips in 1979 and early 80s.
