Friday 22nd May 2020. IFF Panama starts tonight & Fundacion Saber Beber helps bartenders.
May 22, 2020
Between eight and nine this morning we link up with Pituka Ortega from the International Film Festival of Panama (IFF). I was all change when the corona-virus pandemic disrupted any idea of a normal IFF Panama this year. Now it will be a virtual IFF, the movie information is on the website and you can purchase your ticket watch them on line. What I like is that the viewing is the same. You choose the movie and purchase your ticket ($5) and you can watch it on the specified day and at the specific hour. Listen to Pituka talking about the trial and tribulations of getting IFF Panama up and running.
In the last hour we turn to Fundacion Saber Beber. A foundation that was formed back in 2008 with the intention of promoting responsible drinking. Due to the shut down of the restaurants and bars much of the staff is laid off, the foundation has raised $60,000 through various sponsors an gifts to assist the bartenders whilst the situation persists.
“Saber Beber Foundation is a non-profit organization that was born with the purpose of promoting and centralizing the efforts of the different actors related to the alcoholic beverages sector of Panama , to sensitize and raise awareness about responsible consumption and the sustainable development of the industry. , providing a comprehensive return to society based on ethical actions that contribute to the well-being of all.”
