In the last 24 hours, 792 new cases of Covid-19 and 15 deaths were reported, the Ministry of Health (Minsa) reported this Thursday. These figures increase the accumulated cases of Covid-19 to 127,227 and deaths rise to 2,612, with a fatality of 2.05%.  In the last 24 hours 7,748 tests have been applied, for a percentage of positivity of 10.2%.

President Laurentino Cortizo announced that the Superintendency of Banks of Panama issued a banking agreement that establishes to extend the financial relief until June 30, 2021.

The new admissions of hospitalized patients with Covid-19 , both to wards and to Intensive Care Units (ICU) have remained stable this month in Panama.

The Ministry of Health (Minsa) reported this Thursday that it will resume the execution of several infrastructure projects, with the aim of strengthening the medical care services that are provided throughout the country.

The administration of the Panama Metro reported that the passenger regulations were modified in regards toseveral points, which include protection standards to prevent the spread of Covid-19 . “Any user who does not use or improperly uses the mask within the facilities, while it is mandatory, by instructions of the health authorities, will be subject to a penalty,” says the Panama Metro. In addition, it is highlighted that “it is established as an obligation of the users that, it is recommended for public health reasons, that they must try to remain silent during the trip within the trains of the Metro lines, avoiding any activity that leads to discussion”.

The guarantee judge Yazmín Jaén decreed this Wednesday, October 21, the provisional detention of a 26-year-old man, who is accused of the possible commission of the crime against economic assets, in the form of aggravated theft in the case that investigates the theft of bonds from Panama Solidario.

The president of the Episcopal Conference of Panama, Rafael Valdivieso , supported the statements of Pope Francis on civil unions of same-sex couples.
