The Ministry of Health (Minsa) reported Thursday that in the last 24 hours 22 people died from the coronavirus , the highest number in a day since the first case was reported last March. To date, the total number of deaths has risen to 667, while the accumulated number of Covid-19 cases in the country has risen to 35,237. The total of new cases for this Thursday, July 2 is 774, after the application of 2,352 tests.

According to the Ministry of Health (Minsa), a total of ten townships recorded at least 20 cases of Covid-19 in 24 hours -in the first report in July-, highlighting a sector of the province of Bocas del Toro .

Health personnel from the Arnulfo Arias Madrid Hospital Complex of the Social Security Fund (CSS) protested this Thursday against the transfer of some rooms to other hospital facilities.

The former president of the Republic, Juan Carlos Varela (2014-2019), appeared on the morning of this Thursday, July 2, at the Special Anti – Corruption Prosecutor’s Office in respect to the Odebrecht case

As for the former President of the Republic, Ricardo Martinelli he did not answer the questions of the Second Prosecutor against Organized Crime about the purchase of the Epasa Group allegedly with public funds, and the interview ended with the order to prohibit Ricardo Martinelli from leaving the country, without judicial authorization.

Panamanian boxing legend  Roberto ‘Manos de Piedra’ Durán , who was admitted to a private hospital last week after testing positive for Covid-19, was released by doctors on Thursday afternoon.
