The Ministry of Health (Minsa) reported this Thursday, that in the last 24 hours 38 new deaths from coronavirus have been reported, for a total of 4,321 accumulated deaths (lethality of 1.6%.). In the epidemiological report of the ministry, it is noted that in the last 24 hours 4,135 new positive cases were registered, for a cumulative total of 269,091. They applied 16,136 tests, for a percentage of positivity of 25.6%. Meanwhile, there are 2,324 hospitalized and 2,098 of them are in the ward and 226 in intensive care units.

The numbers of new cases of Covid-19 in the country maintains its growth rate and in the first six days of 2021, more than 18 thousand people are registered with the virus.

Reacting to a resolution from the Ministry of Health, the Panama Metro announced on Thursday that it is enforcing the ban on the use of masks or respirators with exhalation valves.

Approximately 268 private schools were authorized to receive financial aid, through Resolution No. 4074 of November 30, 2020, out of 320 that initially made the request to the Ministry of Education (Meduca) .

Before the publications of La Prensa regarding statements made by athletes and leaders warning of possible pressure and bribes by officials of the Panamanian Institute of Sports (Pandeportes) to favor one of the payrolls in the last elections of the Olympic Committee of Panama (COP ), this body requested the local authorities and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to investigate the complaint.

The Executive proposed Francisco Vigil and Edward Mosley Ibarra, as administrator and sub-administrator, to direct the new National Decentralization Authority.

Although citizens demand greater transparency and more actions to prevent corruption in the public administration, for now these issues do not appear in the projects that the Executive will present to the National Assembly
