The primaries of the political parties, which will take place in June and July of this year, will be observed by representatives of the Organization of American States (OAS) .

“I allow myself to inform you that I have issued instructions to the Department for Electoral Cooperation and Observation (DECO) of the Secretariat for Strengthening Democracy to coordinate the deployment of a technical team for the primary elections,” Almagro points out in a letter. sent to the presiding magistrate of the TE, Alfredo Juncá.
The TE reported that the presence of the international organization is given again at the request of the authorities of this institution “to reaffirm the commitment to transparency, equity and justice in all electoral processes that take place in the country.”
The political campaign within the Democratic Revolutionary Party (PRD) begins to heat up a few days after having officially started.
On Friday night, the deputy and presidential candidate Crispiano Adames, held an exchange of words with young people who approached his circle in a restaurant on Via Argentina. According to witnesses, the deputy was offended for a moment, even those who accompanied him had to stop him.
In a video published by the digital medium Foco , an angry Adames is observed trying to enter the premises but was stopped by friends and members of his political team.
“This is how the corrupt eat,” they shouted at Adames, according to Foco .
According to Adames, this fact “does not seem to be accidental.” I mean, it would be planned. He did not rule out that the campaign of presidential candidate José Gabriel Carrizo , current vice president of the Republic, would be linked.
In recent days, Adames has denounced “pressure and removal” of followers by the central government.
“I had never been in a scenario of threats, persecution and dismissals for just expressing differently” politically, said the deputy on TVN’s Radar program this Sunday.
Since Carrizo’s campaign they prefer not to speak out and have distanced themselves from the accusations against their faction.
The primary elections will be on June 11. There are a total of eight presidential candidates who will compete that day, among them, Carrizo, Adames and the former general secretary of the PRD, Pedro Miguel González.
The migratory drama that is currently being experienced in the dangerous Darién gap , between Colombia and Panama, exceeds the imagination and any statistical number that had been previously reported. The jungle never ceases to amaze.
Deaths, unaccompanied children, violence, and thousands of human beings in their most deplorable conditions are daily occurrences in this inhospitable area of the country. Not even the restrictive measures adopted by the United States in October 2022 stopped the migrant caravan.
Now the phenomenon is out of control. This is reported by United Nations agencies, human rights defenders, security forces and the President of the Republic himself, Laurentino Cortizo.
The scenario is this: until April 13, a record number of more than 101,102 migrants crossed the Darién this year, six times more than those who arrived in the same period of 2022. In the last 10 days they entered the country through this region, at an average, of 1,054 daily.
This is a reality that is not unknown to the president, who stressed this week that, if the trend continues, 2023 could close with the crossing of more than 400,000 irregular migrants.
For now, the president’s position is that this issue should be addressed in a “shared” manner between Panama, Colombia, and the United States . However, he mentioned that in the specific case of Panama, the country makes an economic effort to attend to the entry of migrants through the border, who are offered health care, lodging and food.
The National Police managed to thwart a robbery attempt carried out this Sunday at the El Rey supermarket on Mile 8, when two subjects were detected on the roof of the commercial establishment through video surveillance cameras.
During the police action, the suspects were found with the sum of $33,000 that is presumed to have been stolen from the interior of the supermarket, they also found shears to cut metal, other tools with which they managed to open a hole in the roof of the commercial establishment.
After the alert, police officers proceeded to surround the place to prevent the criminals from fleeing. Both apprehended did not resist at the time of their capture.
The deputy commissioner, Fernando Vargas, of the San Miguelito Police Zone specified that they together with the evidence recovered were placed under the orders of the Public Ministry for the initiation of the investigations.
It is being investigated whether the suspects have a police record for this type of crime, since some thefts with similar characteristics have been recorded in the area.
After the Supreme Court of Justice (CSJ) rejected another attempt by the Brazilian company Odebrecht to prevent the Administrative Court of Public Procurement (TACP) from getting involved in the dispute it is holding with the Tocumen International Airport, SA , this administrative body established a date for the hearing in which it will be determined what works are pending in terminal two.
Initially, the hearing was supposed to take place on April 12, but the Brazilian contractor requested that it be postponed to April 19, an alternative date that the TACP had set.
18 months after the airport administration administratively terminated the contract for the construction of terminal two, the Court wants to establish which works are still incomplete, with the aim of simplifying the tests that must be carried out by the experts appointed by Tocumen and Odebrecht, as well as the technicians that have been designated by the TACP.
” It is necessary, at present, that the parties agree on the object of the inspection at the site of the work and with this, define the potential coverage of the same, for which it is convenient to order a hearing previous to the practice of certain tests: the accounting expertise, the inspection of the work and the testimonial taking. In other words, the fact that currently the tasks pending execution have been significantly reduced in accordance with what is accepted by the parties, obliges the Tribunal to try to specify specifically those pending [activities] that are really missing, in addition to identify which are the most relevant to evaluate in the proceedings with the intervention of experts and witnesses”, indicated the magistrate Luis Mariscal, who leads the appeal process by the TACP.
In February 2020, more than 10,000 pending jobs were identified, repairs that had to be solved within four months. However, due to mobility restrictions applied during the coronavirus (covid-19) respiratory pandemic, the deadline has been extended to September 30, 2021.
