In the last 24 hours there have been no reported deaths due to Covid-19. There is a total of 6,296 accumulated deaths, for a fatality of 1.7%. In Panama there are 359 thousand 214 patients recovered from the disease. While active cases this Sunday total 5,367. In addition, 344 new positive cases were detected this Sunday, for a cumulative total of 370,877. 6,626 tests were applied to detect those infected, a percentage of positivity of 5.1% is maintained. In home isolation, 5 thousand 26 people are reported, of which 4 thousand 768 are in their residence and 258 in the so-called hospital hotels. While the hospitalized number 341, of them 281 are in a ward and 60 in an intensive care unit.

The Minister of Health, Luis Francisco Sucre, confirmed that on Sunday, May 16, there have been no deaths due to Covid-19. This is the first time during the pandemic that no deaths have been recorded, the official said. Sucre stressed that Panama has acquired 9 million doses of vaccines against the new coronavirus.
