Panama surpassed 6,700 deaths from Covid-19 on Sunday, after reporting 6 deaths in the last 24 hours. According to the epidemiological report of the Ministry of Health (Minsa) , with these latest deaths the total number rises to 6,703. In addition, 721 new positive cases are reported, after the application of 9,322 tests (positivity of 7.7%). The accumulated number of cases is 422,678 and of these 402,551 people recovered. In intensive care units (ICU) the number of patients increased to 131 for this Sunday. on Saturday there were 105 patients were reported. Active cases total 13,424. In home isolation, 12,683 are reported, of which 12,316 are at home and 367 in hotels. The hospitalized number 741 and of them 610 are in the wards.
With the intention of stopping the increase in Covid-19 cases as of Sunday, the new mobility restrictions on circuits in the provinces of Panama Oeste and Veraguas begin to apply. In Executive Decree No. 803 of July 16, 2021, a total quarantine is established for the district of San Carlos, province of Panama Oeste, as of this Sunday a total quarantine on Sundays without working hours or mobility.
