Ingrid checks in from El Valle, it has been a hiking weekend. We find out how the weekend went for Yazmin. This week is a busy one with plenty of interviews. Our guest today is journalist J Scott Bronstein. Our topic? The documentary La Senal de la Libertad is the story of six Panamanians and one American who operated a clandestine radio station in Panama, La Voz de Libertad, during the later stages of the military dictatorship. The documentary tells the story of how the group came together, how they were hunted by intelligence officers and how one of them was ultimately arrested and jailed in the infamous Carcel Modelo.
Scott Bronstein is a journalist who works on international collaborations on behalf of La Prensa. He was part of the Pulitzer prize winning Panama Papers project, as well as other award-winning investigations, including the Cartel Project and Narcofiles. In the documentary, he edited the English language subtitles. His wife, Rita Vasquez, is the film’s executive producer.
