The epidemiological report of the Ministry of Health (Minsa) highlighted this Sunday, June 20, that in the last 24 hours there have been 6 new deaths due to Covid-19. In addition, the Minsa updated a death from a previous date, bringing a total of 6,475 accumulated deaths, for a lethality of 1.6%. In Panama, 376,761 patients recovered from the disease, according to the ministry. While this Sunday 583 new positive cases were detected, for a cumulative total of 393,727. On the other hand, active cases to date total 10,491. According to the Minsa, 7,997 tests were applied and a percentage of positivity of 7.3%. Meanwhile, in home isolation there are 9,925 people, of which 9,527 are in their residence and 398 in the so-called hospital hotels. While there are 566 hospitalized, of which 482 are in a ward and 84 in an intensive care unit.
The field hospital, installed on the grounds of the Gustavo Nelson Collado de Chitré hospital center, will be enabled this week, informed Luis Rodríguez, institutional director of the Social Security Fund (CSS) of that region. “We are going to use it and it is very possible that this week we are going to enable it, and the general director Enrique Lau has informed us that Friday, June 25, will be the formal inauguration”.
