In the last hour of today’s program we have as our telephone guest Sra Giovanna Troncoso from Fundacion Oir es Vivir. The foundation does amazing work in supporting, advising and helping people who are hearing impaired. Giovanna taks about here own experience having a profoundly deaf child and how it was diagnosed at a young age. The death toll from the coronavirus in Panama has risen to 165, as of this Sunday, April 26, 5,779 accumulated cases are reported, of which 241 are new.The head of Epidemiology of the Minsa, Lourdes Moreno, reported that there are 4,906 patients in home isolation, 1061 of them are in hospital hotels. While 251 are kept in the wards and 88 in the intensive care units.

The Anti corruption Prosecutor’s Office asked the Ministry of the Presidency for a report and documentation on the purchase process of 100 AHP-300 ventilators at a cost per unit of $ 48,950 this being part of an investigation carried out following publications detailing the existence of this type of equipment at a lower price.

The members of the National Committee of Guidance on COVID-19 issued a statement to the country in which they raised the need to create an Ad Honorem scientific committee to evaluate the acquisition of supplies and equipment required to face the coronavirus pandemic .

Given the panorama facing the country due to the pandemic , the Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture of Panama (CCIAP) reported that it supports the gradual start of activities, as the Government is planning, as long as they comply with the health instructions that apply to prevent the spread of the virus.

The Ministry of Labor and Labor Development (Mitradel) reiterates that all companies in the country must create a health and safety committee, once the quarantine is lifted, this requirement is compulsory. This committee must be made up of workers and employers.

The risk rating agency S&P Global Ratings declared negative the perspective of the sovereign risk note of Panama and kept the rating at BBB +.
