According to the epidemiological report of the Ministry of Health (Minsa) of this Sunday, July 4, in the last 24 hours there have been 7 deaths due to Covid-19, bringing the total to 6,574 accumulated deaths, for a lethality of the 1.6%. In Panama, 388,293 patients recovered from the new coronavirus. While active cases total 13,256. 793 new positive cases were detected, for a cumulative total of 408,123. On  Sunday 9,160 tests were applied to detect those infected, thus giving a positivity percentage of 8.6%. According to the Minsa, 12,564 people are reported in home isolation, of which 12,189 are in their residence and 375 in the so-called hospital hotels. Meanwhile, there are 692 hospitalized, of which 585 are in the wards and 107 in intensive care units.

Starting tomorrow Tuesday, July 6, immunization with the AstraZeneca anticovid vaccine will begin for workers in the capital’s hotels and restaurants, the Ministry of Health (Minsa) reported this Saturday, July 3. The vaccinations will take place at the designated point located in Albrook Mall, from 7:00 in the morning to 3:00 in the afternoon.

Eight months of lodging and meals for the alternate deputies who live in the interior of the country, and who act in replacement of their principals, cost the State $ 169,376.

The sum covered the months of January to April of this year and will cover what corresponds to July and October.

The Tourism Authority of Panama (ATP) received two proposals for the comprehensive remodeling of three Tourist Facilities and Information Centers (Cefati) located in Boquete, Pedasí and Bocas del Toro, three of the main tourist spots in the country.

The remodeling is part of the projects carried out by the Government with the $ 100 million loan approved by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) for Panama to improve tourism infrastructure in tourist areas.

Federico Suárez and Jaime Ford, former ministers of Public Works, will go to a preliminary hearing along with another group of people in the case of alleged irregularities in the rehabilitation project of the Arraiján-La Chorrera highway

The hearing is scheduled for July 20-23.
