The report of the Ministry of Health (Minsa) this Thursday, December 9, registers 1,811 new infections of Covid-19 and 23 new deaths, in the last 24 hours. These figures increase total cases of the new coronavirus to 182,977 and accumulated deaths to 3,264, according to the epidemiological report. To date, 8,286 tests were applied, for a positivity percentage of 21.8%. The total number of tests carried out since last March is 1,007,599. The Minsa reported that given the increase in requests for swab tests, it is working to increase the number of centers in various parts of the country.

The National Association of Nurses of Panama announced the sixth nurse to die in the country from the new coronavirus.  Jirenia González, who worked at the Paitilla Hospital.

The rebound in Covid-19 cases continues to register a high incidence in the provinces of Panama and West Panama in the last hours in 12 townships at least 40 people were reported with the virus.

On the morning of this Wednesday, December 9, the contract was signed to begin the construction of the new Children’s Hospital.
