The Ministry of Health of Panama (Minsa) reported 706 new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, increasing the total number of infections to 107,990.  Meanwhile, 6 new deaths were reported for a total of 2,291 deaths from this virus in the country, which represents a 2.1% fatality rate. In the last hours, 5,520 new tests were carried out to detect COVID-19 for a 12.8%% positivity.

The general director of the Social Security Fund (CSS) , Enrique Lau Cortés, warned this Wednesday, that projections indicate that, at the end of November and beginning of December, there will be a possible increase in cases of the new coronavirus in the country.

The Civil Aviation Authority (AAC) reported the extension of the suspension of all international flights -for 19 calendar days- that will be counted from 11:59 pm on September 22 until 11:59 pm on October 11. This was established in Resolution No. 150 of 2020. In a statement, the AAC emphasized that the reopening and reactivation of international aviation in Panama, as of October 12, must be governed by the protocols established by the Ministry of Health (Minsa).

With the entry of Panama to the multinational mechanism know as Covax Facility, a commitment was made to make a payment of 15% of the total doses of the Covid-19 vaccines requested by the country.

Specialist physicians at the Hospital del Niño developed and approved a protocol that sets parameters for the care of patients suspected of suffering from pediatric multisystem inflammatory syndrome associated with COVID-19 .

The first case of this syndrome was detected in July, and to date 12 patients have been diagnosed.

The Mayor’s Office of the San Miguelito district must provide Deputy Juan Diego Vásquez with information related to the funds that have been used during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This Wednesday, September 23, the Inter-institutional Commission to promote the heritage and tourist value of the Old Town, declared a world heritage site by UNESCO, held its first meeting, in which a work plan for the reactivation of that sector was presented.

The gallon of 91 octane and 95 octane gasoline will decrease 7 cents as of this Friday, September 25 and until Friday, October 9, announced the National Energy Secretariat . Likewise, the gallon of diesel will have a drop of 9 cents.
