The report of the Ministry of Health (Minsa) this Wednesday, reports that 2,028 new positive cases were registered in the last 24 hours, for a cumulative total of 169,339.  There were 16 new deaths, for a total of 3,114 deaths since last March when the first cases of this disease occurred10,892 tests were applied, for a positivity percentage of 18.6%, says the Minsa report.

The Minister of Health, Luis Francisco Sucre , explained this Wednesday, that they made the decision to extend the curfew and declare a dry law in the province of Panama Oeste due to the increase in “clandestine parties” and unauthorized family gatherings in the full pandemic . The rebound in Covid-19 cases is reflecting figures similar to or higher than those that occurred last July when the highest numbers of the pandemic occurred and according to the latest report from the Ministry of Health (Minsa) only three regions of the country have the effective reproductive number of cases (Rt) below 1.

The Municipality of Aguadulce established through decree No. 0.21 of December 2 an extended curfew for the entire district, in the province of Coclé, given the increase in positive cases of Covid-19 .  The measure, which begins to take effect from tonight, will be from 8:00 pm to 5:00 am and will run until Tuesday, December 15. The curfew was from 11:00 pm to 5:00 am

Foreign Minister Alejandro Ferrer submitted his resignation from office, confirmed the newspaper La Prensa this Wednesday, December 2. In his place, Erika Mouynes was appointed, who until now had served as Deputy Minister for Multilateral Affairs and Cooperation. The Vice Minister of Foreign Relations, Federico Alfaro, also resigned. The reasons for the resignation of Ferrer and Alfaro are not known.
