In the daily report on the situation of Covid-19 in the country, the Ministry of Health (Minsa) registered 1,037 new cases in the last 24 hours, while the number of patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is below 100. It is specified that to date 12,477 tests were applied and that the 1,037 new infections represent a positivity of 8.3% In addition, 7 deaths are reported and 2 more from previous dates are updated. The fatality is at 1.6%. This Wednesday’s epidemiological report details that active cases total 11,808. In home isolation, 11,224 are reported, of which 10,898 are at home and 326 in hotels. The number of hospitalized is 584 and of them 487 are in ward and 97 in ICU. The last time a figure below 100 was registered in the ICU was on June 25 when 95 were reported.

The director of the Metropolitan Region of Health of the Ministry of Health (Minsa), Israel Cedeño , stated this Wednesday that the flexibility of health measures will depend on the figures and the behavior of society. Cedeño explained that, little by little, mobility restrictions and curfews will be made more flexible based not only on the epidemiological behavior of the disease, but also on the community.

The Minister of Health, Luis Francisco Sucre , emphasized that the entire vaccination process against Covid-19 is free. “Nowhere will the vaccine be charged,” he said, reiterating that from August 9, immunization against Covid-19 will begin in private hospitals in Panama City.
