The epidemiological report of the Ministry of Health (Minsa) highlighted this Monday, that in the last 24 hours there have been 26 new deaths from Covid-19. According to the Minsa, in Panama there are 163,334 recovered patients. In addition, active cases total 27,903.  While this Monday a total of 1,612 new positive cases were detected, for a cumulative total of 194,619. For the second consecutive day, there is a decrease in the cases detected after the record number of 2,806 infected in one day was reached. This Monday 9,570 tests were applied, for a percentage of positivity of 17%.

President Laurentino Cortizo held on Monday, a meeting with Jean Pierre Leignadier, president of the Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture of Panama; and Julio De La Lastra, president of the National Council of Private Enterprise (CONEP), to analyze the progress of the coronavirus pandemic in the country.  The Ministry of Health will hold a press conference this today where “the necessary measures that were agreed upon to continue the fight against the pandemic will be announced,” according to the Presidency.

A new sampling center to diagnose the new SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus (which causes Covid-19) has opened in the Costa del Este urbanization.   It is a VidaTec facility located in the area of ​​the Inter-American Academy of Panama, explained Denisse Vega, general manager of the specialized clinical laboratory.
