According to the epidemiological report of the Ministry of Health (Minsa), yesterday evening there have been 9 new deaths. In addition, 2 deaths from previous dates were updated, bringing a total of 6,005 accumulated deaths, for a fatality of 1.7%. There are 336,277 patients recovered in the country. While active cases add up to 5,873 as of Monday, which represents a constant decrease in those infected. This Monday 236 new positive cases were detected, for a cumulative total of 348,155. According to the entity, 3,574 tests were applied to detect those infected, a percentage of positivity of 6.6%. The report highlighted that 5,092 are reported in home isolation, of which 4,882 are in their residence and 210 in so-called hospital hotels.Meanwhile, 781 people are hospitalized, of which 683 are in a ward and 98 are in intensive care units.

This Sunday, when the Covid-19 vaccination process ended in the 8-8 circuit , the Ministry of Health (Minsa) reported that 39,113 adults aged 60 years or more were immunized. Panama received on Monday, four mobile hospitals that were donated by the United States Government, in the midst of the Covid-19 emergency . At the event held at the Regional Humanitarian Assistance Logistics Center in Panama Pacifico, Stewart Tuttle, charge d’affaires at the United States Embassy in Panama, acknowledged that the pandemic “has hit us hard” both Americans and Panamanians. However, Tuttle showed his confidence that the worst has past and that, with the arrival of vaccines, “we are in the final stretch.” “Much more important than the monetary value is the humanitarian value of what we have been able to do,” Tuttle stressed.
