According to the epidemiological report of the Ministry of Health (Minsa) of this Monday, March 22, in the last 24 hours there have been 8 new deaths, totaling 6,052 accumulated deaths, for a fatality of 1.7%.  In Panama, 339,961 recovered patients are counted. While the active cases today, Monday, total 5,200.  In addition, 222 new positive cases were detected, for a cumulative total of 351,213. According to the Minsa, 4,486 tests were applied and a percentage of positivity of 4.9% is maintained, one of the lowest registered to date. Regarding ward hospitalizations, it was revealed that there are 616 patients confined and another 99 are in intensive care units .

The President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo, called on the population to take care of themselves to avoid another outbreak of Covid-19 cases, which would lead to the need to analyze a new closure. “Look what is happening in Europe. There are already countries that are closing again and that is an option that I would no longer like to have to make”, said Cortizo this Monday, at an official ceremony in Pacora.

According to the Covid-19 vaccination schedule of the Ministry of Health (Minsa), the process to immunize the elderly population would resume next Monday, April 5.
