Special guests in the last hour of today’s program, Irena Sylya and Juan Pomares, we have a great opportunity to talk about the upcoming production of La Boheme on the 3rd and 4th of September, also  the Fundacion Opera Panama which was founded by Irena. ” Fundación Opera Panama; the foundation that celebrates its sixteenth year of activities. Opera Panama has produced ten internationally successful operas (MADAMA BUTTERFLY, DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE, LA TRAVIATA, LA BOHEME, TOSCA, AIDA, DER SCHAUSPIELDIREKTOR, I PAGLIACCI, SUOR ANGELICA, MACBETH and coproduction of CAVALLERIA RUSTICANA as well as more than fifty concerts in Panama and in the interior of the Republic, in addition to educational programs for children from six years old. Opera Panama provides international quality education by bringing teachers to Panama to teach its participants; it is worth noting that its educational programs have been opened to other students from Panama and from other countries such as the United States, Russia, Mexico, Costa Rica, Argentina, Brazil, El Salvador, and Venezuela.

Juan Pomares

Juan Pomares, He studied at the National Institute of Music of Panama with Professor María Urriola and at the University of Panama with soprano Irena Sylya. His repertoire includes The Magic Flute, La Traviata, La Boheme, Macbeth, I Pagliacci, Cavalleria Rusticana, Madama Butterfly, Carmen.

His versatility has led him to represent Panama at the International Bolero Festival in Nicaragua, to perform Rancheras in Central America and Popular music. He has participated in various concerts with the National Symphony Orchestra of Panama, the Afredo De Saint Malo Festival, Camerata Bach (Nicaragua), SinfoPops Panama, as well as recitals with the Panama Opera Foundation. Pomares is also active as a cultural manager in Panama
