The Ministry of Health (Minsa) reported, this Monday, June 28, 666 new positive cases of Covid-19, which brings the accumulated number of infections to 401,332.m The epidemiological report reveals that in the last 24 hours, 4 deaths were registered and 1 death from previous dates is updated. Now the accumulated deaths are 6,529, for a fatality of 1.6%. This Monday 7,442 tests were applied, which yielded a positivity of 8.9%. The recovered patients total 382,671 and the recovered patients increased to 12,132. In home isolation, 11,456 people are reported, of which 11,080 are at home and 376 in hospital hotels. There are 676 hospitalized patients and 573 of them are in the ward and 103 are in the intensive care unit (ICU).
The Superior Court of Appeals of the First Judicial District confirmed, this Monday, the decision taken by the guarantee judge María José Urbina, who denied former president Ricardo Martinelli the prescription of the criminal action in the wiretapping case. The Panama Canal Authority (ACP) reported that it reformulated the tender model for the water program, with which now the start of operations of the projects that are selected to provide more water for human consumption and the Waterway operations are postponed until 2028. Under the new scheme, the Panama Canal intends to provide interested parties with a conceptual design of the system, in order to reduce the level of risk, improve cost estimates and facilitate the technical evaluation of proposals. According to the original plan, by 2025 the projects chosen to provide more water to the demand for human consumption and for Canal operations should be completed and operating. The investment for this project is estimated at $ 2 billion.
