In Panama, seven new deaths are reported due to Covid-19, according to the epidemiological report of this Monday, October 5, from the Ministry of Health (Minsa). In addition, this Monday 633 new positive cases are counted, for a cumulative total of 115,919.  According to the Minsa, this Monday 4,143 tests were applied, for a percentage of positivity of 15.3%.  With the 7 new deaths registered, there are 2,430 accumulated deaths in the country and a fatality of 2.1%.

“For me it is extremely important, and it was a commitment, to leave a number of institutions, secretariats that have been executing the budget.”  This is how the President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo , expressed himself this Monday, about the reorganization, recently announced, of the Ministry of the Presidency.

President Laurentino Cotizo appealed to the Supreme Court of Justice to request that article 2 of bill 312 of 2020 be declared unenforceable (unconstitutional) approved in the third debate [for the second time] in the National Assembly on September 23.  The initiative in question allows a group of officials to take advantage of telework, a partial or complete work modality, justifing absence with paid leave, among others, while the Covid-19 pandemic lasts .
