With 923 new cases in the last 24 hours, Panama reached the figure of 48 thousand 96 confirmed infections of Covid-19 and for this week the Rt increased from 1.35 to 1.40, as advised on Tuesday July 14 the Ministry of Health. Israel Cedeño, director of the Metropolitan Health Region, was in charge of explaining the progress of the virus by the Ministry and stated that in the last hours 28 new deaths were registered for a total of 960, since the pandemic came to the country in Last March.
The Minister of Health, Luis Francisco Sucre , announced that a total quarantine begins on July 18 in the provinces of Panama and West Panama on Saturday and Sunday. Sucre explained that a curfew will be established from 7:00 pm on Friday, July 17 until Monday, July 20 at 5:00 am in the aforementioned provinces.
The construction industry will remain suspended for the time being, at least, until July 26.The Ministry of Health (Minsa) decided to extend the suspension order – which was to end on July 10 – for 15 more days, until next July 26.
