As the Republic of Panama goes into 24hr quarantine, we talk to Carolina Freire about CAPADESO. “The campaign seeks to supply food, hygiene and cleaning items to homes, shelters and centers that serve vulnerable populations in the country.”

Given the national emergency situation by COVID-19, the Panamanian Chamber of Social Development (CAPADESO), invites the general public to contribute to the fundraising campaign that they organize in support for homes, shelters and centers that provide care to children, adolescents and the elderly in the country.

The President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo, in an address to the Panamanian people on the afternoon of this Tuesday, March 24, stated that from 5:01 am on Wednesday, a 24-hour quarantine is decreed.

The Minister of Health, Rosario Turner, revealed on Tuesday night, that there are now eight deaths in the country due to the new coronavirus.In addition, 443 cases of Covid-19 have been detected, that is, there are 98 new infected.

For his part, the Minister of Security, Juan Pino , revealed that during the 24-hour quarantine, which begins at 5:01 am on Wednesday, you can go out to buy food and medicine.

Pino explained that people will be able to leave at a time that will be established according to the last number of the ID and the passport for foreigners.

The Ministry of Health (Minsa) acquired a million tablets of hydroxy-chloroquine and azith-romy-cin, drugs that have been used in other nations to combat the new coronavirus, a pandemic that in Panama has claimed six lives.
