A production of the Board of Trustees of the National Theater, with a book, music and lyrics by Irene Sankoff and David Hein. Starring a cast of exceptional actors, Come From Away is an inspiring musical that captures the essence of humanity in the darkest moments. Set in the days following September 11, 2001, the play tells the true story of what happened when 38 planes were unexpectedly diverted to the small town of Gander, Newfoundland, Canada. The play weaves an emotional and optimistic narrative about solidarity, kindness and the power of community. The people of Gander open their hearts and homes to the 7,000 stranded passengers, creating unique bonds that endure beyond the tragedy.
