Andres Clemente

We check in with Ingrid for todays stories from the countryside! And it is a welcome back from Andres after our vacation, and it is four movies that he has seen and gives us a quick review on each.

Thurderbolts*

Dir. Jake Scherier Starring: Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Lewis Pullman and David Harbour

Plot: After finding themselves ensnared in a death trap, an unconventional team of antiheroes must go on a dangerous mission that will force them to confront the darkest corners of their pasts.

Quick Review: A character need drives this Marvel film; that immediately makes it one of the best Marvel film in years. Great comedic banter, team chemistry and some cool action set pieces. Also, Louis-Dreyfus as the villain is fantastic.

Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning

Dir. Christopher McQuarrie Starring: Tom Cruise, Simon Pegg and Hayley Atwell.

Plot: Ethan Hunt and the IMF team continue their search for the terrifying AI known as the Entity – which has infiltrated intelligence networks all over the globe – with the world’s governments and a mysterious ghost from Ethan’s past on their trail. Joined by new allies and armed with the means to shut the Entity down for good, Hunt is in a race against time to prevent the world as we know it from changing forever.

Quick Review: If you are a fan of the franchise, you won’t be disappointed nor surprised. The film pitches right down the MI middle, but… that’s still a pretty good pitch. Incredible stunt by Cruise, which really seems negligent at this point. and I’m changing my mind between Atwell and Cruise chemistry, it kinda works.

Lilo and Stitch

Dir. Dean Fleischer Camp Starring: Maia Kealoha, Sydney Agudong, Tia Carrera.

Plot: A lonely Hawaiian girl befriends a runaway alien, helping to mend her fragmented family.

Quick Review: Im not a huge fan of the Disney Live Action remake trend, but Lilo and Stitch add more depth to the Sister dynamic, making Nani, the big sister, a more developed character. Just that small addition makes for a good remake. The special effect characters are well done and the new Lilo is incredibly charming. One important negative is that Zach Galifianakis and Billy Magnussen don’t deliver the funny when regards to the henchmen Jumba and Pleakley.

Death of a Unicorn

Dir. Alex Scharfmanm. Starring: Paul Rudd and Jenna Ortega

Plot: A father and daughter accidentally hit and kill a unicorn while en route to a weekend retreat, where his billionaire boss seeks to exploit the creature’s miraculous curative properties.

Quick Review Love the dark comedy of the film. The eccentric billionaire characters elevate the filmç, they’re great contradictions for the straight characters played by Rudd and Ortega.
