The Ministry of Health (Minsa) reported in its Tuesday report, that the number of deaths from the new coronavirus increased to 59, while 91 people infected with Covid-19 are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Lourdes Moreno, head of Epidemiology at Minsa, reported that at the end of yesterday, at 4:00 pm, there are 2,249 positive cases with Covid-19 in the country, that is, 149 more cases than on Monday. Of those, 1,906 are in home isolation. Meanwhile, 268 are hospitalized: 177 in the ward and 91 in the ICU.

President Laurentino Cortizo addressed the country Tuesday eevening through a “virtual conversation” with five journalists from different television stations, and said he could not specify when the quarantine order could be lifted, which currently keeps much of the population in lockdown.

At the drop of a gavel, the plenary session of the National Assembly approved yesterday Tuesday, bill 287 that establishes a 90-day moratorium on the payment of financial, commercial, housing and other commitments. With this approval, the document passes into the hands of the Executive for its sanction or veto.

With various modifications, the deputies of the National Assembly approved bill 298 in the second debate, which modifies the Internal Regulations of the Assembly to include online sessions.

The deputy of the Democratic Revolutionary Party, Roberto Ábrego, was appointed as a member of the board of directors of the Panama Canal Authority (ACP) , representing the National Assembly.

Previously, the Ministry of Health (Minsa) recommended the use of the mask only to those people with symptoms of a respiratory disease or to those who carry out some type of work that implies a higher risk of contagion of coronavirus.

The center of attention that the Ministry of Health (Minsa) enabled in the Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is ready to start operating, said the head of the Health portfolio, Rosario Turner.

The deputy mayor of the Panama district, Judy Meana will become the new governor of the province of Panama, it was made known this Tuesday, April 7, in the Municipal Council of Panama.
